    33 Days to Slavery

On July 4, 1776, 229 years ago, a group of brave subjects became traitors by declaring their independence from King George III, over a 3% tax on tea and their desire to be free.

Between now and the 15th of April their descendants will voluntarily assess themselves a 30 – 40% tax on their earnings for fear of having to be free and a cowardly desire to remain loyal subjects to a traitor, King George VI.

    Please explain...

Approximately 98% of the people in the U.S. File tax returns and pay federal income taxes. I would be willing to bet that 98% of those complain about having to file the forms and pay the taxes.

Yet, when these same people visit my website:

    http://irsliarsthievesthugscowardshypocrites.com/

where I offer a “FREE” book on taxes, only 26% accept my offer. And the book is FREE!

Please tell me. Are the other 74% illiterate? Unable to read the book? Are they to busy working to pay taxes to read about them? Are they to stupid to care about that 40% of their earnings that is being stolen from them? Are they such cowards that they would rather give up 40% of their earnings just to be left alone? In the immutable words of Sgt. Schultz: “I know n-o-t-h-i-n-g, n-o-t-h-i-n-g.”

If you have an opinion, email me from the website.

    Ah... Attorneys

Allysan Issac spent three months in jail and a year on work release for possession of a controlled substance. Only after she had completed her sentence did anyone notice that the drug found in her possession, an anti-anxiety medication called Buspirone, is not a controlled substance. Neither the judge, the district attorney, the police, nor Issac's original defense attorney could explain why no one realized she hadn't broken the law.

More Honest Government Under the Bushwacker's Regime

    Breaking the Levy

    Kerry Howley
    Reason

In December a Washington D.C., federal appeals court decided that a 3 percent federal excise tax on cell phone usage is illegal. It wasn't exactly a maverick ruling: The court joined eight other federal courts that have ruled the same way. The feds thus owe taxpayers $9 billion - three years' worth of unlawfully collected funds. Yet far from doling out refunds, the federal government has not even stopped collecting the tax.

The tax legally applies only to calls priced on distance, not the length of the conversation, a restriction that should exempt most Internet phone service and cellular calls. Yet the feds will continue to collect the levy on calls the D.C. court determined are legally exempt until the Bush administration decides whether to appeal the ruling. Consumers may eventually be eligible for a slice of the $9 billion overcharge.

Note: It isn't the feds that are collecting the tax, it is the cellular phone companies. Maybe they need to be held accountable for collecting an illegal tax?

You Might Be on Drugs ... and Not Even Know It

Does the idea of being "drugged" by your drinking water sound crazy? If you drink tap water, you could be ingesting more than just H2O.

Americans consume millions of doses of prescription drugs every year. Add to that the millions of doses given to livestock. In some cases, 90% of these chemicals are excreted back into the environment, unchanged - and that's not counting the pharmaceuticals that are intentionally discarded. Much of this is showing up in ground water, rivers, and even our drinking water! But pharmaceuticals are not regulated as pollutants ... and most sewage plants are not equipped to remove them.

Problems are already showing up in the environment. Scientists in Maryland found that estrogen from birth control pills has deformed the reproductive organs of smallmouth bass. And researchers in Georgia and Mississippi discovered that the antidepressant Prozac is killing tadpoles.

In some parts of the country, drinking water is also showing signs of contamination. In January, for example, the Associated Press reported on pharmaceuticals in the Los Angeles drinking water supply. Granted, the levels are small. But we simply don't know the effects of ingesting microdoses of a hundred different drugs over a lifetime.

In the past, I've given several reasons to avoid unfiltered tap water. Add "pharmaceutical pollution" to that list. If you don't already have one, invest in a reverse-osmosis water filter for your home. It will remove the contaminants the water company misses ... as well as those they intentionally add (like chlorine and fluoride).
